Oliver’s SpineCentral Story

Personal Trainer, Coach, Entrepreneur, Author & Athlete

“It goes without saying, anyone who is sitting on the fence, I’d say you’ve just got to do it, jump in with both feet, it’s entirely systematic, progressive. You start to see results straight away, and ever visit you get that little bit better and closer to what your body should always have been, what is essentially your birthright. This is what we should be enjoying, and it’s just a shame that not enough people do.”

“I’m Oliver Selway. I’m a Personal Trainer from Oxford. My company is called Paleo Training. It all comes out of my obsession with health and fitness, and being the best person that I can be. Two years ago when I first approached SpineCentral, I’d seen a few things about ABC online. Seen some great pictures, great shots of people who had radically improved their posture. I wanted to … You know, if it really could work the way that it appeared to. I was struggling with a few things at that point.

Even though I was meant to be this perfect exemplary personal trainer, I really felt like I was a bit collapsed. My chest was sunken down, my shoulders were round. I was having to make quite an effort to hold myself up straight, just doing some basic movements. On top of that I was getting some weird aches and pains in the low back, tight neck. Struggling to turn my neck left to right. Just other things like this that maybe stopped me from really feeling like the person that I wanted to be.

I started along the road, on the journey with ABC and it very quickly became apparent that there was some quite profound changes starting to happen. That sort of locked down position started to give, and started to open up. Chest started to broaden, shoulders started to come back and drop down. My breathing was improving, and you know I realized that I was really undergoing something of a transformation. I noticed my endurance was improved, just going out on runs and things with clients. I noticed I’d no longer be audibly breathing (hard) at all. I got better balance going into normal movements like squats and lunges.

At the end of the day instead of being tired and feeling a little bit beaten up I’d have twice as much energy as I used to have. That’s really where I’ve been after this, this whole time. You’ve got diet, and you’ve got exercise but really you need this third thing, which is your structure. You start to get your structure in place everything else sort of slots into place and your body starts to work the way that it was designed to. That for me is what’s special about ABC, it’s that rebalancing and opening up.

Just feeling more right with yourself. Your body is just back on track. Being able to depend on it, knowing that you’re not going to wake up the next morning struggling to get out of bed because yet a new muscle has decided to start miss-functioning. Getting stiff and achy. Instead you feel more like perhaps you did 20 years ago. You know, I’m still personal training when I’m in my 40s. You know, in many ways I feel really now, after two years of treatment, no different to the way I did when I was an athlete at University in my early 20s.

I put that down to ABC and its hugely improved my flexibility, the way I move, how I look. You know, everybody looks in the mirror. When I look in the mirror I see somebody who’s upright, and straight, and naturally standing the way that we were meant to. I’ve also just noticed that I’ve just generally been stronger.

When I started out with ABC one of the things I really wanted to be able to do was to be able to work out hard and lift genuinely heavy weights. But not have to suffer the consequences of it. I was dead lifting and the next day I’d be in a horrible way and I have to a week before I’d be able to go back and do anymore dead lifting. Now, if I want to I can dead lift day after day after day. I wouldn’t do that for strength gains, but my back isn’t going to give in on me. It’s wonderful to be able to depend on that. ‘Cause, yeah, everything’s just as it should be.

It goes without saying, anyone who is sitting on the fence, I’d say you’ve just got to do it, jump in with both feet, it’s entirely systematic, progressive. You start to see results straight away, and ever visit you get that little bit better and closer to what your body should always have been, what is essentially your birthright. This is what we should be enjoying, and it’s just a shame that not enough people do.”

Oliver was committed to getting results. He travelled from Oxford, on 5-6 hour round trip twice per week for the first few weeks in order to get his old body back. Modern advances in the understanding of biomechanics have allowed results like this to become PREDICTABLE and REPEATABLE for EVERY-BODY (provided you don’t have cancer, infections, fractures or major biochemical health prooblems to begin with).

If you would like to begin your journey towards regaining and rebuilding a healthy and robust body, you can can apply for an initial consultation here.
