Are you tired of constant pain and discomfort? Do you feel like you have tried everything but nothing seems to work? Have you considered that the problem might be in your body’s foundation? Chiropractor, Dr. Richard Gliddon, the author of the book “Unlocked,” believes that building a strong foundation is essential to achieving a healthy, pain-free body.
In his book, Dr. Gliddon introduces readers to the Advanced BioStructural Correction™ (ABC™) method, which focuses on addressing the root cause of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. The ABC™ method is designed to correct misalignments in the body’s structure, which can lead to pain, discomfort, and a host of other health issues.
To build a strong foundation, just like building a house, you need to start by digging deep. Dr. Gliddon compares the body’s foundation to a building’s foundation, stating that the skeleton is the support beam, the muscles are the walls, and the organs and nervous system are the other parts of the structure. If the foundation is weak or the support beams are not in proper alignment, the body will be under increased mechanical pressure and will start to show signs of stress.
Many people seek out various professionals to help treat their symptoms, but Dr. Gliddon believes that the holistic way in which all the parts of the body work together is often overlooked. With the ABC™ method, he aims to address the root cause of the issue and provide long-term relief.
But how can you know if you have a weak foundation? Dr. Gliddon provides a simple postural self-assessment in his book to help readers identify any misalignments in their body’s structure. This self-assessment is a great tool to determine if you could benefit from the ABC™ method and start your journey to a healthier, pain-free life.
The Slump Test

One simple test you can try is to stand up straight and take a few deep breaths. As you exhale, allow your body to relax and slump naturally, without intentionally pushing yourself forward. You may notice that your shoulders roll inwards, your head and neck come forwards, and your back folds and collapses in certain areas.
Pay attention to any other results as well, such as one foot turning out or in more than the other, one or both feet rolling in, one hip or shoulder being higher than the other, or your whole body leaning to one side. These imbalances can indicate that your structural foundations are not as strong as they should be.
To make it easier to spot any imbalances, you can also perform this assessment in front of a long mirror or have a partner film you or take a picture.
If you notice imbalances in your posture, then you would benefit from a full assessment of your body structure to work out what is causing your body to slump and twist.
If you’re ready to take the next step and get a proper assessment of your body’s structure, Dr. Gliddon and his team at the ABC™ Clinic are here to help. They specialise in the ABC™ method and are dedicated to helping their patients achieve optimal health and wellness.
